Overview
This training explores the complex, bidirectional relationship between sleep and alcohol use, highlighting how sleep problems can contribute to alcohol misuse and recovery challenges. Participants will examine the prevalence and impact of insomnia and other sleep disturbances in AUD, review the evidence supporting cognitive behavioral and pharmacological treatment approaches, and discuss practical strategies for addressing co-occurring sleep and alcohol-related concerns. Learners will be better equipped to recognize sleep-related issues in this population and identify effective treatment options to support recovery and overall well-being.
The target audience for this intermediate level activity includes: All healthcare professionals.
The ACGME Competencies include: Medical Knowledge, Patient Care and Procedural Skills, and Systems-based Practice
